Hello, this is DataFox.
If you’ve visited datafox.tw recently, you might have noticed something – I haven’t updated any new articles since June 12th. Many people have also asked me: “Didn’t you say you’d write course reviews?” “What about AI news?” “Why no new articles recently?” To be honest, it’s not that I lack ideas, but rather that I’ve been truly too busy.
During this time, in addition to my Google internship, I’ve also been simultaneously juggling three papers (including AAAI and ICAIF), industry-academia collaboration projects, and various research tasks for grad school. I don’t know why, but things that were originally spread out over different times all ended up crammed into the same month or so. Furthermore, I still hope to maintain a normal life: meeting friends, exercising, sleeping, and not completely burning myself out. Consequently, managing my self-media naturally took a back seat.
Actually, I haven’t completely stopped updating. I had been continuously sharing some updates on my Google internship and research on LinkedIn, but recently, due to the paper sprint, I accidentally stopped updating there too. :(
Lately, I’ve also been thinking about where DataFox should go next. I once thought about building an AI community, but there are so many AI communities now. I’ve been wondering, what unique value can I truly offer? Perhaps after the papers are done, I’ll start sharing more of what I’ve genuinely accumulated, such as observations from the research process, experiences from my Google internship, and insights on AI system design and research methodologies, rather than just summarizing news or chasing the latest models. I hope DataFox can gradually grow into a place with its own unique character.
Interestingly, even though I haven’t posted in over two months, the website still gets about twenty organic visitors daily. Every time I see Analytics, I remind myself: “Oh, people still come here.” This also makes me not want to update just for the sake of updating.
I don’t want managing datafox.tw to become another source of pressure or a job where I have to chase algorithms. I’d rather it be a place where I can continuously record my thoughts, research, and life.
It’s just that right now, I don’t have enough energy. Lately, I’ve been pushed along daily by my internship, papers, research, and various deadlines, and even my podcast is still sitting in the editing queue.
However, this is only temporary. If all goes well, this busiest period should come to an end around early August. Once I complete these tasks and get myself organized, I will slowly return.
At that time, I’ll share the stories from this period and the next phase of DataFox with everyone.
