Hello, this is DataFox.
If you’ve recently visited datafox.tw, you might have noticed something – I haven’t updated any new articles since June 12th. Many people have also asked me: “Didn’t you say you were going to write course reviews?”, “What about new AI insights?”, “Why no new articles recently?” Honestly, it’s not that I lack ideas, but I’m truly too busy.
During this period, in addition to my Google internship, I’ve also been simultaneously juggling three papers (including AAAI and ICAIF), industry-academia collaboration projects, and various research tasks for my graduate studies. I don’t know why, but things that were originally spread out over different times all ended up piling up within the same month or so. Besides all this, I still want to maintain a normal life: seeing friends, exercising, sleeping, and not completely burning myself out. So, naturally, managing my personal media presence took a back seat.
Actually, I haven’t completely stopped updating. I originally continued to share some updates on my Google internship and research on LinkedIn, but recently, due to the paper sprint, I accidentally paused those updates too. qq
Lately, I’ve also been pondering what DataFox’s next steps should be. I once thought about building an AI community, but there are truly many AI communities out there now. I’ve been wondering what unique value I can offer that others don’t. Perhaps after the papers are done, I’ll start sharing more of what I’ve truly accumulated, such as observations during the research process, insights from my Google internship, and experiences with AI system design and research methodologies, rather than just compiling news or chasing the latest models. I hope DataFox can slowly grow into a place with its own distinct character.
Interestingly, even though I haven’t posted in over two months, the website still gets about twenty organic visitors daily. Every time I check Analytics, I remind myself: “Oh, people still come here.” This also makes me less inclined to update just for the sake of updating.
I don’t want managing datafox.tw to become another source of pressure, or a job where I have to chase algorithms. I hope it can be a place where I can long-term record my thoughts, research, and life.
It’s just that right now, I don’t have enough energy. Lately, I’ve been pushed along daily by my internship, papers, research, and various deadlines, and even my podcast is still sitting in the editing queue.
However, this is only temporary. If all goes well, this busiest period should conclude around early August. Once I complete these tasks and get myself sorted, I’ll slowly make my return.
At that time, I’ll share the stories of what happened during this period, and what the next phase of DataFox will look like.
